Accounting and Finance staff presentation

Staff in Accounting and Finance attended and presented at a number of recent research events.  

Ms. Michelle Carr presented her paper “A Control Problem: Understanding Developments & Difficulties in Healthcare”, at the 10th European Network for Research in Organisational & Accounting Change (ENROAC) Conference on 3-4th June, in NUI, Galway.  Ms Carr also acted as a discussant for other papers being presented at the conference.  Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes. 

Dr. Peter Cleary presented his  paper “An Exploratory Study of the Impact of Cloud-Based Accounting and Finance Infrastructures on Intellectual Capital and Business Performance”, at the 10th European Network for Research in Organisational & Accounting Change (ENROAC) Conference on 3-4th June, in NUI, Galway.  Dr Cleary also acted as a discussant for other papers being presented at the conference.  Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes. 

Dr. Margaret Healy presented her paper “Managing Innovativeness: Exploring the Role of Accounting Practices in one High-Technology Organisation”, at the 10th European Network for Research in Organisational & Accounting Change (ENROAC) Conference on 3-4th June, in NUI, Galway.  Dr Healy also acted as a discussant for other papers being presented at the conference. Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes. 

Prof. Mark Hutchinson presented his paper co-authored with Mr. John O’Brien “Time Series Momentum” at the 2015Financial Management Association (FMA) European Conference on 11-12th June, 2015 at Ca' Foscari University, Venice.  Prof. Hutchinson was a member of the Scientific Committee responsible for the conference and also acted as session chair.

Dr. Mark Mulcahy attended the 2015 Financial Management Association (FMA) European Conference on 11-12th June, 2015 at Ca' Foscari University, Venice.  Dr. Mulcahy was a member of the Scientific Committee for the conference and also acted as session chair and discussant at the conference.  Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes.

Mr. Sean Power attended the British Accounting and Finance Association Doctoral Conference on the 22-23rd March at the University of Manchester.  Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes. 

Mr. Sean Power attended  "Current Methods for Web-Based Data Collection and Analysis" course taught by Andy Leone, Arthur P. Metzger, Professor of Accounting, University of Miami from 19th - 21st August in Miami, Florida.  The course which covered areas such as how to extract data from SEC filings using Perl (Practical Extraction and Reporting Language) and applying algorithms from computational linguistics (e.g., readability and tone measures) to text using Perl modules. Attendance was enabled via financial support from the College of Business & Law Research Support Schemes.
