This summer, the University of Dubrovnik played host to the Blended Intensive Programme organised by the Faculties of Economics and Business at Cork University Business School (CUBS), fellow European University of the Post-Industrial Cities (UNIC) partner the University of Zagreb and the University of Dubrovnik. This event brought together ten students from UCC and students from Poland to explore pivotal topics in business, sustainability and technology.
The programme delved into key areas such as digital transformation and digital business models, offering students a comprehensive understanding of how businesses are evolving in the digital age. Sustainability issues were also a major focus, emphasising the importance of environmentally conscious business practices in today's world - which was delivered by Professor Valeria Andreoni of CUBS UCC. Also covered was Business and Data Analytics in Sport which looked at several modern methods used to analyse performance which allows effective decision-making and results in optimal operations within sports clubs and organisations.
In the picturesque setting of Dubrovnik, students were not just learning; they were also building networks and relationships with professionals and fellow international students from various business and economics backgrounds. The programme was a resounding success, providing students with valuable knowledge, international experience, and a platform for future collaboration.
This initiative was a part of the UNIC alliance, which includes UCC, the University of Zagreb in Croatia, and the University of Łódź in Poland and seven other partner universities . These partner institutions play crucial role in organising the BIP, highlighting their commitment to fostering transformative modes of teaching, research and learning that respond to the challenges faced by students today.
