Biography
A graduate of UCC, Michael Murphy is a lecturer in Marketing in UCC. He has also guest lectured in a number of overseas universities in India, China, Singapore and the UK and worked for one year as a visiting lecturer in Loyola College in Chennai, India. Prior to joining UCC as a lecturer, Michael held positions in the fields of Marketing, Business Development and Market Research, working in Canada, the USA and Ireland. He contributes to a range of programmes, including the B.Comm. at under-graduate level, and the MBA at post-graduate level, lecturing in both consumer and business-to-business marketing. He also lectures in the areas of social marketing, and the growth and impact of consumerism in emerging markets. He has been a director of the MSc. Management and Marketing, the largest business masters programme in UCC, for the last five years and, prior to this, has directed and developed a number of other post-graduate academic programmes. He chaired the internationalisation committee for the College of Business and Law from 2014 - 2018 and continues to be involved in international activities and teaching. He is also a member of the UCC Marketing Strategy Group, the UCC Academic Strategy Working Group, the S. Asia Regional Working Group and recently took on the role of Industry Liaison Director for Adult Continuing Education programmes run with the Dept. of Management and Marketing.
