IFAMA World Conference & Case Competition in Brazil

My name is Shubhojit Bagchi, an MSc Business Economics student at Cork University Business School. This June, I had the incredible opportunity to represent Cork University business School at the IFAMA World Conference and Student Case Study Competition in Brazil, alongside my brilliant teammates Nikhil Pratap Singh, Marie Merlo, and Yashpal Khapre.

After weeks of intense preparation with our amazing advisors, Dr. Tracy Bradfield and Prof. Thia Hennessy, we traveled to Ribeirão Preto to compete against 26 top student teams from around the world. We tackled challenging cases on two major Brazilian agribusiness giants — SLC Agricola and ATVOS — crafting innovative growth strategies under real-world pressure, and proudly advanced to the semi-finals.

We applied advanced econometric modeling, developed real-time enterprise-grade strategic dashboards, and employed critical thinking to navigate each complex, real-world scenario. Our incredible team dynamic made the intense work both rewarding and energizing.

Beyond the competition, we connected with global experts, explored the future of agri-food systems, and gained first-hand insights into Brazil’s dynamic agriculture and bioenergy sectors. This experience supercharged my passion for innovative, sustainable agri-food business and research.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and everyone at CUBS for making this unforgettable journey possible!
