Hi there, my name is Peter Dunne and I recently completed the MSc Human Resource Management at Cork University Business School (CUBS) at University College Cork (UCC). Here is an overview of my experience on the programme:
Education before the Masters
Before embarking on my Master’s journey at CUBS, I completed my undergraduate degree in Business at Munster Technological University. This experience provided me with a solid foundation in Human Resources, but I knew I wanted to deepen my knowledge. Pursuing a Master’s degree felt essential for advancing my career and achieving my goals.
Why I Chose This Programme
I chose the Master’s programme at CUBS due to its combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application which was particularly appealing in such a dynamic field. I was especially drawn to modules such as ‘Managing the Employment Relationship’ and ‘Creating Healthy Workplaces’, which I believed would equip me with the skills necessary to excel in HR.
My Experience of the Programme
My time in the CUBS Master’s programme has been incredibly rewarding. The coursework challenged me and encouraged personal growth. The faculty were not only knowledgeable but also supportive, offering guidance throughout my studies. One memorable aspect was collaborating on group projects, which not only enhanced my learning but also allowed me to form lasting friendships with my classmates.
The community at CUBS played a vital role in my experience. Engaging with peers from diverse backgrounds enriched my understanding of different perspectives in HR. We supported each other through the ups and downs of the program, celebrating successes and sharing challenges. This made the learning experience enjoyable and fulfilling.
I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to apply what I learned in real-world scenarios. Participating in workshops and networking events helped me develop practical skills and build connections with industry professionals. These experiences reinforced my commitment to a career in HR and provided valuable insights into the field.
Plans for the Future
Looking ahead, my goal is to secure a role in HR where I can make a meaningful impact. I am determined to continuously develop myself, both personally and professionally. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained during my time at CUBS will serve as a strong foundation as I pursue this path.
Advice for Prospective Students
If you’re considering enrolling in the Master’s programme at CUBS, I encourage you to take the leap. The experience will deepen your understanding of your field and help you develop essential skills for your career. Embrace the opportunities to connect with faculty and peers, and actively engage in the community. The friendships and networks you build will enrich your experience and support your journey long after graduation.
In conclusion, my journey at CUBS has been enriching. I am grateful for the knowledge gained, the connections made, and the friendships formed. As I look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the impact I can make in the field of Human Resources.
