I am excited to share my experience with the Human Resource Management, Higher Diploma in Cork University Business School, which I entered through recognition of prior learning. This process took into account my previous academic courses outside and extensive work experience, allowing me to join a cohort that is as diverse as it is motivated. My decision to pursue this course was largely influenced by the positive feedback I received from friends and colleagues, who spoke highly of the program’s broad course material and relevance in today’s workforce.
One of the most compelling reasons for choosing this course was its accreditation by prestigious organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and its academic alignment with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The CIPD accreditation not only adds value to the qualification but also provides vital support and resources for students. Being a CIPD member while studying opened doors to numerous workshops, conferences, and networking opportunities, which have been instrumental in building connections for my future career.
Throughout the programme, the highlight for me was the engaging and interactive workshops. These sessions, which included role plays and group activities, were designed to deepen our understanding of the material while enhancing our confidence in applying what we learned. The practical application of theoretical concepts through role plays was particularly beneficial, allowing us to experiment with real-world scenarios in a supportive environment.
I also greatly appreciated the dedication of our lecturers. They recognised that many of us were juggling full-time jobs alongside our studies, and they provided endless support. They were always available via email and took the time to offer personalised guidance, which made a significant difference in my learning experience. Their understanding and flexibility helped create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
As a manager, my current role may not be strictly within Human Resource Management, but it certainly encompasses many aspects of Human Resources. The skills and knowledge I acquired from this programme are invaluable in my day-to-day responsibilities. Whether it's navigating employee relations or fostering a positive workplace culture, I now feel equipped to tackle these challenges with confidence.
I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing a career in Human Resource Management or a management role in general. Whether you are looking to upskill, switch careers, or enhance your current role, this program offers a solid foundation.
Looking ahead, I am excited to use the HR skills I have gained, as the organisation I work for continues to expand rapidly. I am confident that the knowledge and insights from this course will allow me to contribute effectively to the growth and development of both myself and the organisation I work for. I eagerly anticipate the future and the opportunities it holds, knowing I have a strong educational background from CUBS to support my journey.
