Marketing leaders, academics, and researchers from around the world have arrived in UCC for the Academy of Marketing Conference 2025. Taking place across campus, the week-long event is themed “Saints and Scholars” and brings together over 300 delegates from more than 30 countries.

The conference was officially opened today by UCC President, Professor John O’Halloran.

Co-chaired by Dr Dave Alton, Dr Sean Tanner, and Prof. Mary McCarthy, and supported by Fáilte Ireland and the Cork Convention Bureau, the conference presents unique opportunities for the Cork business community to engage with global experts. The event is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the region, with an estimated €600,000 in local impact.

A Timely Focus on Marketing’s Role in a Changing World

The launch of AM25 comes at a moment of growing international focus on marketing’s responsibility in tackling urgent societal issues. These range from climate action and digital accountability to diversity and inclusion. This year’s conference provides a timely platform for academics and industry professionals to share leading research and practical solutions.

Inspired by Ireland’s academic and cultural legacy, the “Saints and Scholars” theme invites reflection on how marketing can contribute to solving global challenges and aligning business practices with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Topics to be explored throughout the week include consumer trust in the digital age, sustainable branding, and effective stakeholder engagement.

A central focus of the conference is the changing role of marketing in a world shaped by rapid transformation. Delegates will examine the new strategies, tools, and partnerships required to navigate future challenges.

Building a Future-Focused Marketing Ecosystem

Prof. Anthony McDonnell, Dean of Cork University Business School at UCC, welcomed the arrival of the conference on campus:

“It is a privilege to welcome the Academy of Marketing Conference to UCC. This event enhances our global profile at a time when we are actively pursuing triple accreditation. Hosting a conference of this calibre reflects our commitment to excellence in business education and highlights the vital role that research plays in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Thought-provoking research and meaningful dialogue are central to our mission of shaping responsible leaders, and we are excited to see these important conversations taking place here at UCC.”

Throughout the week, the conference will feature keynote addresses from renowned marketing experts, including Prof Michael Saren (University of Birmingham), Prof Diane Martin (University of Galway), and Patrick Kennedy (Global Head of Scaled Measurement at Pinterest). Attendees will also take part in a wide range of workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions.
