We are delighted to announce that Cork University Business School (CUBS) has been awarded the Pieta Amber Flag, a national recognition of our commitment to promoting mental health awareness and wellbeing within our school community.
This important milestone reflects the tireless efforts of many individuals across CUBS, most notably Sinead Hackett, Dr. Linda Murphy-Patten, and Liam Fitzgerald (Student Lead), supported by the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and our dedicated Amber Flag staff/student sub-committee.
Highlights from Amber Week
As part of our Amber Flag journey, we hosted a range of activities during Amber Week, aimed at raising awareness and funds for Pieta House. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our community, we raised an impressive €2,022 through initiatives such as a campus-wide fundraising drive and a memorable Sunrise Sea Swim.
We’re especially grateful to students Rishika Jaiswal, Markuss Tombergs, Claire Foyle, and Savar Aggarwal for their outstanding support and energy throughout the week.
Year-Round Mental Health Advocacy
CUBS has continued to prioritise mental health through ongoing initiatives. Earlier this year, we launched a four-week online wellness workshop series alongside our Mind Your Mind campaign, both designed to encourage open conversations and provide practical tools for managing mental wellbeing.
A Community Effort
We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this achievement. The Amber Flag is more than a symbol it's a testament to the inclusive, supportive, and values-driven culture we are proud to foster at CUBS.
Together, we are making mental health and wellbeing a visible, meaningful part of life at our Business School.
