
The annual BComm Student Achievement Showcase takes a look back at 2024 with a sample of our many BComm student achievers. Our bright thinkers are leading the way to creating brighter futures for all of us.
This year's students include:
Aine is a Quercus entrance scholar for her achieving maximum points in her Leaving Cert exam and enjoys how Commerce CK201 constantly supports an entrepreneurial, responsible, mindset among students.
Ben is a current sporting Quercus UCC scholar and plays hurling with UCC and Cork. Ben enjoys group projects on Corporate Social Responsilibility, ESG and live case projects.
Cian was a group member of the Capstone BComm 4 prize. Cian enjoyed the way the Capstone module integrated the knowledge that he gained in all his modules through student teams working on real world business projects and live cases.
Darragh is a Price Waterhouse Cooper First prize winner for outstanding results and has discovered in the Commerce programme that the correct use of AI may optimise decisions to benefit economic, regulatory and policy creation strategies.
Ephrata won the prestigious 'Better Us' Award at EY's NextGen Women's Global Competition 2024. From 4,226 applications and 390 participants, to 25 gobal finalists, Ephrata stood out as one of just 2 winning individuals! Representing EY Ireland at the global finals in Madris, she was recognised for inspiring others, fostering belonging, and bringing out the best in everyone. This global competition shines a spotlight on the next generation of women in business and technology in EY.
Erica in BComm1 uses a business simulation package called Market Games, which is active, collborative and supportive. Business game-based simulations used in Commerce, empowers students, making the learning experience dynamic, engaging and impactful.
Cian won the UCC CIMA award and was awarded a Study Abroad scholarship to study in Utrecht, The Netherlands. While abroad, Cian enrolled in sustainable business modules and was amazed to see how companies in different countries embrace the issue of sustainability.
Flor is a John Busteed Memorial Prize winner and Gold Medal winner for academic excellence. Flor is now working in the financial sector and is appreciative that the Commerce modules explored the success of responsible organisations and demonstrated the dvelopment of innovative business modules.
Gene in BComm 1 is a Quercus Sporting Scholar for Rugby. Gene chose Commerce, CK201, to give him the flexibility to select his major in Year 4 after he has taken all business modiules in the first 3 years of the programme. This will allow Gene to make an informed decision as regards his major.
Kate is the current chair of the Commerce Society 2024. Kate is looking forward to future leadership roles and to becoming a creative business professional that will advise companies on developing successful, profitable, and sustainable scenarios.
Killian won the Quercus Scholarship for achieving maximum poinrs in Leaving Cert. Killian enjoys the role of being the Commerce Society Vice Promotions Officer and is looking forward to the Commerce programme, CK201, training students to become conscientious business leaders that will strive to prioritise individual, societal, and environmental wellbeing.
Michael from BComm 1 is a Quercus Sporting Scholar for Rugby and is looking forward to developing new skills through co-curricular business activities and applying frameworks to real world problems in a creative way.
Niamh currently holds the position of Student Representative for Commerce 4 and looks forward to future leadership roles in shaping a sustainable business environment for society.
