Biography
Dr Stephen Brosnan is a Lecturer in Economics at Cork University Business School (CUBS), where he has taught since 2017. He teaches economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department of Economics. He holds a PhD (Economics) from UCC, funded through a highly competitive Science Policy and Innovation Postgraduate Scholarship awarded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). His academic qualifications also include MA (Economics), BA (Economics and Sociology), HDip (Social Policy), and Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma awards in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
Stephen’s research focuses on science and innovation policy, regional economics, and the economics of crime. He is a member of both the Spatial and Regional Economics Research Centre (SRERC) and the Crime and Social Harm (CSH) research cluster. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including The Economic and Social Review, Regional Studies, Regional Science, and Competitiveness Review.
He is actively involved in academic administration at Cork University Business School. He serves as Co-Programme Director for the BSc in International Business with Languages and is a member of the School’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and Ethics Research Sub-Committee (ERSC). He has also previously served on the PhD Representative Committee.
