Biography
Dr Orlagh Reynolds is lecturer in Sustainable Development in the Department of Food Business and Development, CUBS. She obtained her PhD from the University of Galway in 2018 focusing on the topic of legitimation strategies of sustainability-oriented entrepreneurs. Prior to joining UCC in 2023, Dr Reynolds was an assistant professor in Dublin City University Business School and worked as a funded researcher in University College Dublin and with the BiOrbic research centre. She was recently PI on an IRC New Foundations project investigating current opportunities emerging in the circular bioeconomy across the island of Ireland that support a just transition for agriculture and marine sectors. She is currently co-PI on an EPA funded project investigating how the circular economy supports just transitions in Ireland’s food and fashion sectors. She has published her research in ABS AJG 3 and 4 ranked journals such as Journal of Product Innovation Management and MIT Sloan Management Review.
Research Interests
Dr Reynolds’s main research interests include entrepreneurial and innovative activity oriented towards sustainability, particularly in the circular bioeconomy. She is interested in how novel business models and ecosystem thinking can facilitate a just transition. Dr Reynolds is also interested in research on novel teaching methods for sustainability education at third level.
