Dr Edward Shinnick

Biography

Dr Edward Shinnick is a Professor and Vice Dean for Accreditation & Governance at Cork University Business School\Department of Economics at UCC. He received his BA degree (Economics and Mathematics) and Master’s degree (Economics) from University College Cork. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde in 1999. His research areas include competition in markets & industries, privatisation, competition policy, regulation and business strategy, where he has published in a wide range of national and international journals, book chapters, and edited book volumes. Most recent publications cover the area of, regulation of health insurance, economic incentives and the knowledge economy, regulatory reform in Irish legal services, corruption and governance issues, and competition on bus transport. Prof. Shinnick has undertaken economic consultancy work for industry, has served on the Board of the National Consumer Agency (NCA) where he was also Chair of the NCA’s Audit Committee, is an International Reviewer for the Czech Science Foundation, serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Public Policy and the International Economics and Economic Policy.
