The report, titled “Financial Inclusion Among Social Housing Tenants”, was jointly commissioned by Clúid and The Housing Finance Agency.

The aim of the research, which was undertaken by University College Cork (UCC), Centre for Co-operative Studies and Financial Services Innovation Centre, was to explore the current status of low-income residents of social housing in Ireland in terms of their access to and use of financial services, with a particular focus on savings and credit

The research involves a study of the current literature on financial exclusion and inclusion, surveys and interviews with Clúid Housing residents and comprehensive analysis of key data sources providing the current context of financial inclusion, capability, literacy and well-being.

The event will take place online and will include contributions from Kath Cottier (Clúid Housing), Professor Michelle Norris (HFA), Nessan Vaughan (North Dublin MABS), Dr Olive McCarthy (UCC) and Debbie & Ger Kearney (Clúid Residents).

It is anticipated that the report will provide valuable insight and positively contribute to the development of tailored strategies and solutions that enhance the financial well-being and capability of social housing residents and other low income households.
