Community based social enterprise & entrepreneurship

During February & March the CUBS Entrepreneurship Speaker Series will feature three lunchtime seminars focussing on Social Entrepreneurship & Social Enterprise. The second in the series will examine collaborative practice of community based social enterprise/entrepreneurship.

The second seminar of the seminar series features Ms Mara Wiillemijn Van Twuijver and Mr Lucas Olmedo (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Early Stage Researcher (ESRs) at CUBS, UCC) and Ms Catherine Smyth of Ballyhoura Development CLG.  

These speakers will discuss and share their research and collaborative practice of community based social enterprise/entrepreneurship, social inclusion, and sustainable rural development.

Speaker biographIES

Catherine Smyth is the Development Manager with Ballyhoura Development CLG and a member of the RurAction MSCA ITN.

Mara Willemijn van Twuijver is completing a PhD at CUBS. The focus of her study is rural community-based social entrepreneurship & social enterprise(SE) and, through her research with Ballyhoura Development CLG and other rural SEs, she enjoys working on the boundary between theory and practice.

Lucas Olmedo is an ESR at CUBS and his research focus is on exploring the role of community based social enterprise for inclusive and sustainable rural development.
