Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India and among Hindu communities worldwide. Often called the Festival of Lights, it symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India and among Hindu communities worldwide. Often called the Festival of Lights, it symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
Diwali in 2025 will be celebrated on October 20, marking the main day of the festival, with celebrations spanning from October 18 to October 23. During this time, families decorate their homes, illuminate them with oil lamps (diyas) and colorful lights, create intricate rangoli patterns, and share sweets and gifts. Fireworks brighten the night sky as people come together to celebrate joy, renewal, and hope. Beyond its religious significance, Diwali also marks a cultural moment of togetherness, generosity, and new beginnings across many Indian traditions.
To mark this festival of togetherness, I would like to invite you to drop in to our Happy Diwali card making event, taking place next Tuesday 21st October, at any time between 12noon and 2pm (venue to be confirmed on registration).
