Programme Description

The Diploma in Accounting Studies is available only to students from partner Chinese universities, with whom University College Cork signs a bilateral agreement under Statute 263 of the National University of Ireland. Having studied for three years at a partner Chinese university, students will study for one year at University College Cork, taking the diploma programme to the value of 60 credits as outlined below.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Prepare financial statements for external users in accordance with international financial reporting standards.
  • Use accounting information for decision-making purposes within business organisations.
  • Identify alternative solutions to problems faced by accounting practitioners.
  • Choose the best solution from a set of viable alternatives.
  • Know how to organise information in a way that will maximise its benefits to users of accounting information.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted, students will normally be required to: 

  • successfully complete and pass credits equivalent to three full academic years' study of their degree programmes at a partner Chinese University with whom University College Cork has a bilateral agreement; and 
  • satisfy English language proficiency requirements as specified by the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems.
