Rob Heffernan

Youth Ambassador, Bank of Ireland, Cork City

Rob Heffernan, joined Bank of Ireland in July 2018 as a Youth Ambassador for BOI Cork City after a highly decorated Athletics career which spanned three decades.

Rob a native of Togher, Cork is one of Ireland's most decorated athletes having represented Ireland on the World stage with distinction for over 20 years. Having taken up race walking on a whim but driven by a fiercely competitive nature and a dogged desire to be the best in the world, he strode his way to the pinnacle of the sport.

Rob became the World Champion of the 50km walk in Moscow in 2013 and attained Bronze in London 2012 Olympics.  In 2016 Rob became the first athlete ever to represent Ireland at the Olympic Games for a fifth time

During his athletic career Rob worked hard, getting results and consistently performed under pressure whilst at the same giving so much back to young and aspiring athletes in Ireland.

Rob continues to coach and mentor young Athletes and as Youth Ambassador for BOI Cork engages with Schools on a daily basis promoting wellbeing, physical exercise and resilience which Rob regards as particularly important for Students
