Senator Padraig O'Ceidigh

FOUNDER OF AER ARANN

 

Padraig O'Ceidigh, a successful entrepreneur from an early age. At ten, the Connemara born O'Ceidigh was picking periwinkles from a beach in Spiddal and travelling to Galway to sell them to fish exporters.

 

Former Chairman of Aer Arann, O'Ceidigh was responsible in building Aer Arann as a leading regional airline. Since purchasing the airline in 1994, O'Ceidigh has helped to build Aer Arann up to its current position as a Leading Regional Airline. He is also founder of a number of other companies in the following sectors: publishing, music, aircraft, maintenance, outsourcing, homecare and interest marketing

 

A fluent Irish speakter Padraig received his third level education in NUIG before having careers in accountancy, teaching and as a solicitor. Padraig is also a Harvard University Alumni. He owns the Irish language newpaper Foinse and Fuinseog among many other business interests.

 

Padraig is passionate about community support: he has led many fundraising events raising approximately €1,5m for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Temple Street Hospital and various other charities over the years. He is also patron of Ability West.
